Experience Mt Cook in style at The Hermitage
As we had been looking forward to this trip for a while, we decided to spoil ourselves and stay at The Hermitage Hotel – and we certainly were thrilled with our decision.
Our Premium Suite was on the second highest floor, and we were welcomed with a room-width window with magnificent views looking out toward Mount Cook.

It was setup with two queen size beds, so you could easily fit four people in a room.

We couldn’t get over how spectacular the views were, and spent the first hour curled up on the lounge with a cup of tea, simply admiring the views of the surrounding hanging glaciers and Southern Alps. When we first arrived, the sky was filled with cloud and in the short amount of time of us sitting there, the blue sky and sunshine soon appeared and we set off on an adventure along one of the nearby walking tracks.

After our walk, we retreated to the suite for a soak in the bath tub and freshened up for dinner.

The Alpine Restaurant offers buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner or you can head to the Panorama Room for an a la carte meal. There are also other options outside of the hotel if these restaurants don’t tickle your fancy.

We finished off the night by enjoying a movie and taking advantage of the free Wi-Fi to share some of the photos from our day.
The following morning, it was an absolute treat to wake up to the view of Mount Cook shimmering right through our window. It was a spectacular morning and we couldn’t wait to get out and enjoy it.

The luxury Hermitage Hotel was the perfect place to base ourselves for our trip to Mount Cook and we left feeling extremely refreshed and rejuvenated. Now that we have experienced the destination in the warmer months, we hope to return to see it transform into a snowy wonderland over winter.
