A jetskiing adventure to Daydream Island

After a few days spent exploring the Whitsunday region, we had worked up a taste for some adrenaline-fuelled adventure. So we met up with the team at Whitsunday Jetski Tours and geared up for their Daydream Extreme day trip.

After a short safety briefing and run through of what to expect for the day, we were kitted up in life jackets, wetsuit shorts, sunnies and rashies and assigned a jetski to share.

Before we knew it we were ripping through the water and getting some decent air on the wind chop. It was a great feeling zooming across the ocean with the wind in our hair. We stopped at a few points of interest for our guide to show us around and then hit full throttle en-route to Daydream Island.

We did a few loops around the island before stopping at the beach where we could choose from a number of things to do on our 2.5 hour break there. Firstly, we enjoyed an included lunch at the Boathouse Cafe which was exactly what we felt like after a morning in the sunshine.

After lunch, we chose to do the Living Reef Experience - a 45 minute private tour with a marine biologist. We were able to pat the sharks and stingrays in the lagoon, hold a starfish, find Nemo and even feed some ferocious Barramundi which was one of the highlights of the tour. If you weren't up for the Reef Experience, you can choose to ride a Banana Tube around the island or simply relax and soak up the resort atmosphere in one of the many beach-side hammocks.

On the way back to the beach, we came across a number of kangaroos roaming freely around the island. They were quite used to tourists and felt comfortable with you approaching them for a cheeky selfie!

We then hit the jetski's again for a thrilling ride through the lagoon and then back toward the marina. We felt more confident on the way back so we got a lot more air time which was awesome. The trip includes two hours of action-packed jetskiing all up, which was a great amount of time especially with a lunch break in between.

The guides are brilliant and they take some great pictures of you along the way so you don't need to be worrying about your camera while you're riding. This is one trip that I highly recommend for any adventure-lovers that are planning on visiting the region!
